Deckbuilding
Players will receive 3 packs each while sitting around a table. The first pack will be opened, each player will choose a card from said pack, and then rotate the remaining cards of the pack to the other players (1st pack clockwise, 2nd pack counterclockwise, and 3rd pack clockwise) until no cards are left. This is done for the 2nd and 3rd packs as well. Then, each person has 30-45 min to create a deck.
Players build decks according to the following rules:
—1 Avatar. Either the supplied Avatar (Spellslinger), or any Avatar you open in your boosters.
—Your Spellbook will contain at least 24 cards - your arsenal of minions, magics, auras, and artifacts.
—Your Atlas will contain at least 12 cards - your Sites with which you'll construct the realm around you.
—There is no deckbuilding constraint on cards according to their rarity!
—Players can use any number of supplied Sites (draft kits will be supplied by the group and returned after play) to supplement any they opened and wish to play in their decks.
—Any extra cards you pick that don't go into your 24-card Spellbook or 12-card Atlas become your Collection in its entirety.
Collection
—Cards that are named by cards that interact with your collection are freely available for use.
—Certain cards reference specific ones by name that should be fetched from your collection. In Constructed would typically be included in your Collection and would count towards your 10-card Collection Limit. For Limited, the most common cards can be found in the box topper for Gothic.
—Some cards allow you to interact with cards from your Collection. If specifically named, you may resolve the effect as if they were already in your collection. Otherwise, you should have the card in your Collection, which, for limited, is the group of extra cards you opened but didn't include in your Spellbook and Atlas.
Overtime
If allotted time expires without a winner, then the current player, whose turn it is at expiry of time, will be labeled turn 0 and 3 more turns will be played to completion. At the end of 3 turns, if still no one is the definitive winner (meaning the only Avatar left alive), then the player whose Avatar is not at death’s door is the winner, and, if neither player’s Avatar is at death’s door, or both are at death’s door, then the game will register as a draw.
